Sometimes the journey towards figuring out what you want might start with making a list of what you do not want. In other cases, the journey is described in the excerpt from a previous post.
Some people are able to embrace their gift(s) at an early age, others take longer or never realize their gift to the point that they can make a living doing it. You have heard about the child that was obsessed with playing the piano, drums, or some other musical instrument, later they began to excel, some win awards and their income exceeds all expectations. The stories vary widely, there’s the child who like to take things apart and put it back might become a builder or contractor; there’s the child or student that loves numbers and figure out anything involving numbers becomes a CPA or an economist.
There are people who are multi-talented and have difficultly deciding which talent to focus on, unfortunately some become “jack of all trades and master of none”. What is the difference between the four human conditions? I would guess that the group that hones in on their craft early and stick with it are in a situation where the craft choose them. The second group that never realizes their right work/profession, probably could benefit from more inner work. The third group “jack-of-all-trades-master of none needs more inner work as well. The fourth group that takes longer to zero in on their gift(s) can benefit from the same inner work as the other two.
There are more distractions in the world today than ever before. The need for instant gratification has been fueled by electronic devices, obsession and overindulgence can take us on a detour away from the path to our destiny if we are not careful. The key to getting what we want includes asking our heart about it, not just once, but on a regular basis, then listen for the answers.
