The milestones of our lives become treasures. When they occur, a broad expansive vision also happens, the spirit of “I can do it” or “I did it!” surfaces. You search back and review the little steps along the way……………… The key people who were involved, the risks you took, the confidence in the idea and perseverance required to stick to it regardless. There is nothing like arriving at a milestone. It’s a happy event, a Universal event because you know the forces of the Universe played their role. You recall those moments where you were certain the Universe “rose up to meet you” along the journey.
One of my favorite jazz anthems is titled, Milestones by Miles Davis, renowned jazz trumpeter. The happy rhythm of the song is an excellent backdrop when reminiscing past milestones. I’ll have to admit, some of my milestones were discovered by accident. The event happened and days or months prior, later, I would realize a milestone had occurred.
Milestones occur in many areas of life: Health, Love, Work/Your Brand/Career, Spirituality, Family, Relationships, Finances, Lifestyle, and Character are at the top of the list. Some of us diligently record the events with pictures or some type of journal, but the vast majority of us do not record our personal milestones preferring to rely on our memory. Milestones are similar to goals in that they help motivate you to higher levels of consciousness. Interestingly enough, goals can turn into milestones. A goal can represent a milestone you want to achieve. You have to achieve the goal to get to the milestone in this case. However, a milestone can occur indirectly when a specific goal is not in place; which is related to synergy.
If you are not recording your personal milestones, try it, the practice will become one of your best personal motivators and a special treasure from the center of your being.
