Being grateful is the single most powerful thing you can do change your life says Oprah on Day 14 of the Meditation Series*. Gratitude is a transformational act because it promotes positive energy. If you compliment someone, it makes them feel good and you feel good too, it is almost contagious, smiles erupt and you may receive some form of a compliment back. Being grateful for simple things like the air we breathe, water, the abundance of food choices, the sun that makes the day bright, lights and heats the earth, grateful for good friends and relationships; the list can go on and on. Deepak says the energy of gratitude is the doorway to abundance. This is why the daily practice of expressing thanks and appreciation returns such great rewards.
Maya Angelou expressed gratitude in a very spiritual way when she said “Let gratitude be the pillow upon which you kneel to say our nightly prayer”. Contemplating or journaling about the things we are thankful for is like a form of prayer; much the Centering Thought for Day 14 “Gratitude is my prayer”.
On Sunday July 30, 2017, spiritual synergy was illustrated when the topic of discussion was the same in two different literary spaces. Day 14 of the series was entitled “Grateful Me”. The daily guide inside the July issue of Sciene of Mind Magazine was entitled “Giving Thanks”. It is a beautiful article where Rev. Karen S. Wylie writes about some of the things she is thankful for. The last paragraph is as follows “Thank you for the way my vibration is lifted when I speak of my blessings, and mostly, thank you for the fact that more blessing come to me when I appreciate the ones I have.” Then the affirmation for that day is “I shall remember to make every day a day to give thanks.” This is excellent advice to help us stay in alignment with the Universe as we travel along the path to our destiny.
